Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, formerly known as
Indraprastha University (IPU), is a public university located in Dwarka, Delhi.
The university is organized around fourteen university schools and three
university centers that focus on programs in law, medicine, technology,
education, entrepreneurship, science and business.
The University, originally founded as Indraprastha University (IPU) on March 28, 1998, was established by the Government of NCT Delhi as a state university in accordance with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act of 1998, which was amended in 1999. The university is acknowledged by the University Grants Commission (India) under section 12B of the UGC Act.
GGSIPU is ranked 1001-1200 by QS World University Rankings 2025. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), also known as Indraprastha University or IPU, is recognized as a state university. IPU is a teaching-cum-affiliating university. IP University is accredited with A++ grade by NAAC and recognized by UGC. IPU is ranked 80th by NIRF 2024 under University category, 29th by NIRF 2024 under Architecture and Planning category and 89th by NIRF 2024 under Engineering category.
Also, the medical courses offered at the university are approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University offers various UG, PG and doctoral level courses in the streams of Engineering, Management, Medicine, Law and Commerce. Admission to all courses in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is dependent on the result of the entrance examination.
