University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun (UPES Dehradun) is known as UPES and is located in Dehradun. The university was established by the UPES Act in 2023. UPES has been granted approval by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The university is accredited by NAAC with Grade 'A'. UPES has campuses spread over 44 acres in Dehradun, namely UPES Bidholi and UPES Kandoli. As per the NIRF rankings 2023, UPES has been ranked 79th overall, and the university has been ranked 52nd. The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies has been ranked ninth in the University Overall category of the QS Asia University Rankings 2023.

UPES University Dehradun offers 20+ industry-aligned and specialised Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs through its seven schools:

UPES B.Tech and MBA are the flagship programs offered in 20 specialisations.

Selection into the B.Tech program is based on JEE Main or UPESAT conducted by the university. The total fee of the B.Tech program is Rs 15.21 lakh. Admission to the UPES MBA program is based on an MBA entrance exam like CAT/XAT/MAT/UPESMET. The fee for the UPES MBA course is Rs 14.20 lakh. Apart from this, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun also offers distance education courses through CCE-UPES Distance Learning Education.
