Madras Medical College and Government General Hospital: Madras Medical College (MMC), located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, is a public medical college established in 1835, it is one of the oldest medical colleges in India as well as Asia. The college has been affiliated with the University of Madras since 1857, and all health science degrees awarded by the University of Madras until 1988, when the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University Act 1987 was enacted with the approval of the President of India. This newly affiliated university began operations in July 1988 and is regulated by the above-mentioned Act.
