Trinity College Dublin, commonly known as Trinity or TCD, is
officially known as The College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen
Elizabeth near Dublin. It is the only constituent college of the University of
Dublin located in the Republic of Ireland.
Trinity College Dublin was founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592 through a royal charter, and is one of the seven existing "ancient universities" of Great Britain and Ireland. Trinity contributed to the flourishing of Irish literature in the Georgian and Victorian eras, in addition to the fields of natural science, law, and medicine.
