The NYU Stern School of Business is one of the most prestigious business schools globally, located in the heart of New York City. It's part of New York University and offers undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs in business administration. Stern is renowned for its finance, management, and marketing programs, among others. It's known for its strong emphasis on experiential learning, global perspective, and innovative research. The school has produced many influential business leaders and scholars over the years.

The Stern School was founded in 1900 by Charles Waldo Haskins as the NYU Undergraduate School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance, located on the university's Washington Square campus. In 1913 Janet Hamill, J.D., M.A., joined the school's economics department and became its first female faculty member. In 1936, women accounted for 15 percent of total enrollment. The Graduate Business Program was launched in 1916 in New York's downtown business district. The school's "Wall Street Division" offered services to both full-time students and those already employed. In 1970, the institution awarded its first doctorate degree in commercial science.

As of 2009, 2,305 students are enrolled in Stern's undergraduate program and 2,969 students are enrolled in its Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. In school there are 202 full-time faculty and 74 adjunct professors. Stern offers a wide range of academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The school is located on West 4th Street, across from Shimkin and Tisch Halls and the Kauffman Management Center on NYU's Washington Square campus.

Stern offers academic majors in Marketing, Finance, Information Systems, Actuarial Science, Economic Policy, Economic Theory, Entertainment Media and Technology, Accounting (CPA and General) and others, as well as co-majors in International Business, Financial Systems and a Certificate Program in Entertainment, Media and Technology. Stern also offers an Executive MBA program for experienced professionals and executives, a 21-month-long degree program that includes two global study tours as part of the curriculum. The average age of Executive MBA degree candidates is 38 years, and 45% of students have at least one advanced degree in other fields.
