Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), located in Baridih,
Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, is a premium institution for
medical students. Manipal Tata Medical College, founded in 2020, is a young but
promising medical joint venture between the acclaimed Manipal Academy of Higher
Education (MAHE) and Tata Steel, combining their skills in education and
healthcare.
The college is associated with MAHE (a deemed college) and approved by the National Medical Commission. MTMC has advanced facilities and direct access to Tata Main Hospital, a 983-bed facility that provides students with valuable clinical experience. With only three medical schools in Jharkhand, the establishment of MTMC increases the availability of qualified doctors, improves healthcare facilities, and, ultimately, helps the local community.
Beneath this collaborative venture, MAHE Manipal has developed the vital framework for a therapeutic college on the Ardeshir Dalal Commemoration Clinic (ADMH) campus in Baridih, which covers 20 sections of land. Annually, 150 sets will open for aspiring MBBS students, with Tata Main Hospital (TMH) in Jamshedpur acting as the affiliated teaching hospital for MTMC Jamshedpur.
Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) currently offers undergraduate (UG) courses, with MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) as its core courses, with an annual intake of 150 students. Plans for complementary health care are planned for the future. The latest payment schedule can be found on the college website or brochures. MTMC is yet to declare the number of medical colleges of the state due to its recent launch. However, its association with MAHE and Tata Steel lays a solid foundation for future adoption.
As the first batch will be completed by 2024, specific details are not yet available. However, MTMC’s emphasis on quality teaching and medical training means that its graduates will have better opportunities in hospitals, health centers and further medical education.
