Symbiosis International University (Deemed University) is a
diverse institution that provides a dynamic educational environment focused on
multicultural and innovative principles for both students and faculty. Symbiosis
was founded in 1971 by Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar to be a 'home away from home'
for international students.
The institution is based on the principles of the Vedic idea
of "The World is One Family". The name of the University aptly
reflects the essence of the relationship it shares with international students;
a mutually beneficial bond between India and the international student
community.
Symbiosis is committed to building international
understanding by providing quality education, and is a great hub for activities
and students from over 85 countries. Today the University has campuses spread
across four states and 6 cities in India and an international off-shore campus
in Dubai, UAE.
All the university campuses embody Symbiosis' vision, 'to
promote international understanding through quality education' and are a hub of
international students from across the world, exposed to Indian culture and
hospitality. The University is accorded Category-I status by the UGC, and 'A++'
grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
It is ranked 31st in India by the National Institutional
Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 and 10th by the Atal Ranking of Institutions on
Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) 2021. Symbiosis International University (Deemed
University) has achieved a remarkable feat by being ranked in the QS World
University Rankings 2025. The University is ranked in the 641-650 range
globally, 31st in the world and first in India for employer reputation.
Offering India's leading 4-year Honours Programme, it also
provides students of SIU institutions with an opportunity to study liberal arts
courses, which gives them a unique edge by focusing on 360° critical thinking
and innovative design thinking with the hope of finding innovative solutions to
social problems. Innovation and entrepreneurship programs, an incubation center
and seed funding for student/faculty research complete the learning ecosystem.
Students and faculty are provided with opportunities to
fully pursue their international academic interests, whether through academic
exchanges, or through exposure to international conferences, seminars,
workshops and other resources.
