JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2025 - The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2025 have been published by Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) on the official website jeeadv.ac.in. It is important to note that the total number of attempts for JEE Advanced 2025 is limited to two attempts within two consecutive years.

While earlier, candidates could appear for the exam three times in three consecutive years. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling the JEE Advanced 2025 application form. The eligibility criteria include performance in JEE Mains, age limit, number of attempts, earlier admission in IITs and more. Only eligible candidates can take the IIT JEE Advanced exam. To be eligible, candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper (Paper I) of JEE Main 2025. The percentage allocation for shortlisting of candidates across different categories is as follows: 10% for General-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 40.5% is reserved for Open category. Additionally, applicants must have secured a qualifying exam score in the top 20% of their category. Criteria 1 – Performance in JEE Main

Candidates must clear JEE Main (Paper 1). They must also be among the top 2,50,000 candidates. The percentage of reservation for categories is given below:

General-EWS – 10%

OBC-NCL – 27%

SC – 15%

ST – 7.5%

Open – 40.5%

PWD – 5% Horizontal reservation in all of the above.

Criterion 2: Age Limit for JEE Advanced

+ Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000 to be eligible to adhere to the attempt limit for JEE Advanced.

+ There is a provision of five years relaxation for candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories, more specifically for candidates born on or after 1st October 1994.

Criterion 3: Eligibility Criteria for IIT JEE Advanced Exam – Number of Attempts

+ A candidate is allowed to appear for JEE Advanced exam a maximum of two times within two consecutive years.

Exemption to the Two-Attempt Limit

The Supreme Court of India issued a verdict on January 10, 2025, allowing candidates who withdrew and dropped out of their courses between November 11 and November 18, 2024, to register for JEE (Advanced) 2025.
