JoSAA 2026: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA)
conducts counselling for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other
GFTIs. Under JoSAA, admission to IITs is based on JEE Advanced ranks, while JEE
Main ranks are utilised for seat allotment in NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and CFTIs.
Each round of the JoSAA counselling process comprises the
following stages: seat allotment, confirmation of seats by candidates, online
reporting to the allotted institute, and payment of fees. Following the
conclusion of all rounds, any remaining vacant seats are allotted through the
CSAB counselling process.
All candidates who qualify in the JEE Advanced 2026
examination and possess a valid JEE Main 2026 rank are required to register for
JoSAA counselling to seek admission into their desired UG courses (B.Tech/B.E.)
offered by the IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs.

What is JoSAA Counselling?
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a centralised
counselling process for candidates holding JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks.
Based on JEE Main ranks, candidates secure admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs,
whereas based on JEE Advanced ranks, seats are allotted to candidates in the
IITs.
JoSAA counselling is a centralised, transparent, and merit-based
process for admission to over 120 premier engineering institutes in India
(including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs). It integrates the seat allocation
process for candidates who have qualified in the JEE Main and Advanced
examinations; this includes online registration, choice filling, document
verification, and seat acceptance.
