IIM Calcutta MBA Admission: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta)
has announced the admission policy for the MBA program (Batch 2027-29). The
institute offers a two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) program
comprising a core curriculum, summer internships, and elective courses. In the
first year, students study compulsory subjects across various fields of
business and management.
In the second year, students can choose electives based on
their interests, career goals, or desired specialisations. Unlike mandatory core subjects that provide
foundational knowledge, electives offer the freedom to explore new fields or
deepen existing understanding.
IIM Calcutta will shortlist candidates for the Written
Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their CAT 2026 scores.
Other parameters include academic performance and gender diversity.
IIM Calcutta MBA Admission: Academic Eligibility
Aspirants seeking admission to the MBA program at the Indian
Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) must hold a bachelor's degree
with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA. A minimum of 45% marks is
needed for candidates in the SC, ST, and PwD categories.
The degree must be obtained from a university established by
an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, an educational institution
established by an Act of Parliament, an institution declared as a Deemed
University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or an institution recognised
as offering an equivalent qualification by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India.
Candidates holding foreign degrees must obtain an
equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.
The percentage of marks obtained in the bachelor's degree
will be calculated according to the method adopted by the university, college,
or institute that awarded the degree. For candidates who receive grades or CGPA
instead of marks, the conversion method specified by their institute will be
used.
If the institute does not have a system for converting CGPA
into an equivalent percentage, the percentage will be calculated by comparing
the candidate's CGPA to the maximum possible CGPA... and will be calculated by
dividing by [the total] and multiplying the result by 100.
For candidates who have completed an integrated master's or
dual-degree program immediately after Class 12, the marks considered equivalent
to a bachelor's degree by the institute will be used. If the institute does not
specify separate undergraduate and postgraduate marks for the dual-degree
program, the postgraduate marks will be treated as the undergraduate marks for
determining eligibility and calculating the combined score during the admission
stages.
IIM Calcutta MBA Admission Shortlisting Criteria
In the first stage, candidates must meet the minimum overall
and sectional percentile cut-offs for CAT 2026 prescribed by the institute. To
be considered for the second stage of shortlisting, they must also secure
non-negative raw scores in all sections of CAT 2026.
Candidates who meet these requirements will be considered for the second stage (Stage II) of the selection process.
