MBBS Admission in India - Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is one of the most preferred and professional degree in medical science. Every year more than 18 lakh candidates compete to get a seat in a medical college in India. The screening process of NTA (NEET exam conducting body) for MBBS admission is very strict and is completely based on the merit in NEET exam. After the declaration of NEET result, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) conducts the further MBBS admission process.

Medical Counseling Committee offers MBBS admission through 15% All India Quota, Deemed/Central Universities, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) and Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) institutions. MBBS admission to the remaining 85% state quota seats is granted by the counselling authorities of the respective state.

Candidates need to qualify NTA NEET in order to secure MBBS admission in India. For general category candidates, NEET exam cutoff for MBBS admission is 50th percentile. While the NEET cut-off for reserved category candidates is 40th percentile. Only candidates who secure NEET cutoff marks and percentile are eligible for further counseling for MBBS admission. What after qualifying NEET exam?

Once the candidates qualify the NEET exam, they will be eligible to participate in AIQ, central and state level counseling and the admission process conducted for MBBS admission. NTA will prepare the list of NEET UG qualified candidates after NEET result. To participate in the counseling and seat allotment process, students have to register on the portal of Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).

MCC will conduct NEET counseling for 15% All India Quota, Deemed/Central Universities/AFMS and ESIC Institutions. During counseling for MBBS admission, students need to register using their personal and NEET result details, pay the counseling fee and fill in their preferences of the courses and colleges in which they wish to study. Based on the choices filled by the candidates, NEET All India Rank, reservation and seat matrix, MCC will conduct the NEET UG seat allotment. Candidates who will be offered seats during the seat allotment of MBBS admission will have to report to the allotted institute.

State wise MBBS admissions in India:

MBBS admission to the remaining 85% state quota seats in government colleges and all seats in private institutions will be done by the respective state authorities. The counseling for MBBS admission can be conducted in online or offline mode. During the state counseling of MBBS admission, candidates have to register, fill choices of courses and colleges and undergo document verification.
