JEE Main: The Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main), formerly known as the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is a standardized computer-based assessment in India designed for admission to various undergraduate programmes in engineering, architecture and planning. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency and serves as a gateway for candidates seeking admission to programmes such as B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning in prestigious technical institutes including National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), admissions to which are determined based on the rank obtained in JEE-Main.
The exam is usually conducted once in two years, called Term-1 and Term-2, commonly known as the January and April sessions respectively. The exam also serves as a preliminary selection and eligibility assessment for candidates wishing to qualify for the JEE (Advanced) for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Since mid-2019, the JEE has transitioned to a fully online format, administered as a computerized test. Prior to this change, the exam was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education before the National Testing Agency (NTA) took over.
JEE Main (B.E/B.Tech) Exam Pattern:
Exam Mode: The examination will be conducted through online Computer-based
test (CBT) mode. Drawing Test for JEE Main Paper II (B.Arch) will be conducted
through offline mode.
Subjects: JEE Main will have questions from Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics subjects.
Type of Questions: Objective Type-Multiple Choice Questions
and Numerical Type Questions will be asked in the exam.
Number of Questions: The question paper will have 75
questions in which candidates will have to attempt all 75 questions. From 2025,
it has been decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions from
Section B, candidates will have to attempt all 5 questions without any option
for selection.
Exam Duration: The duration of the exam is of 3 hours. 4
hours for candidates with 40% disability.
Question Paper Medium: The medium of question paper for all
center cities is in English, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Odia, Assamese, Punjabi,
Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali. Students have to opt
for the language medium at the time of the application process. No changes can
be made later.
Marking Scheme: There will be 4 marks for each correct question.
Negative Marking: Marks will be subtracted for every
incorrect answer. From this year 2025, negative marking will be implemented in
Section B. -1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in each section. In
Section B, enter the accurate integer value of the answer by utilizing the
mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the specified area for answer
entry for each question. The answer should be rounded off to the nearest
integer.
Note: In Section B, candidates have to attempt all 5
questions without any choice for selection.
JEE Main 2024: The first session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for the year 2024 is scheduled to be held between January 24 and February 1. NTA will release JEE Mains Admit Card 2024 Session 1 on January 20 for all the registered candidates to appear in the exam. Hall ticket download link will be available on NTA website on the date of JEE Mains 2024 admit card release date.
Before releasing the JEE Mains Admit Card 2024 Session 1,
NTA will release the exam city information slips by the second week of January.
JEE Main City Intimation Slip 2024 will contain information about the city the
candidates have been allotted to appear in the exam.

JEE Main 2024 Admit
Card:
National Testing Agency (NTA) has informed about the release date of JEE Main Admit Card 2024. The release date of JEE Mains Admit Card 2024 Session 1 is scheduled for January 20. Admit cards will be available for online download on JEE Main website. Details regarding date and time of examination, address of examination center and basic details of the candidates like name, photograph, signature and instructions on the day of examination will be mentioned in the admit card.
NTA JEE Main Admit Card 2024 will be available in online mode only on JEE Main website jeemain.nta.nic.in. It is advised that candidates should review all the information given in their admit card after downloading it. In case of any discrepancy in the admit card, candidates should contact the examination authority. Candidates are required to bring both a photo ID card and JEE Main 2024 admit card to the examination hall. Candidates must download their JEE Main 2024 admit card and take a printout of it.
JEE Mains 2024 Session 1 Result:
NTA has released JEE Mains 2024 Result Session 1. The direct link to download
the scorecard of JEE Mains Result 2024 from the official website is given below
on this page. The official websites to check JEE Mains Login 2024 Result are
jeemain.nta.ac.in and ntaresults.nic.in.
Candidates need to access JEE Main Result Login 2024 at
jeemain.nta.ac.in using their application number and password/date of birth to
check their JEE Main Session 1 Result 2024. JEE Main Result 2024 Scorecard
displays the percentage marks of the candidates in each subject and overall
score for JEE Main 2024 Session 1 Result.
JEE Main Application Form 2024 Session 2: NTA will close JEE
Mains Session 2 registration 2024 on March 2. Applicants have the option to
complete the JEE Main 2024 Session 2 application form through the direct link
provided. The registration link for JEE Main 2024 is available on the official
website. JEE Main 2024 Session 2 registration last date is March 2. JEE Main
2024 registration fee is Rs 1000 for male candidates. The fee for filling JEE
Main form for female candidates is Rs 800 while SC/ST/PWD category candidates
have to pay Rs 500.
Candidates who have applied for Session 1 and wish to appear
in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 examination must log in with their previous
application number and password given in Session 1. They have to use JEE Main
Login 2024 available on the official website. Visit the website and select the
paper, medium of examination, state code of eligibility, city for session 2,
educational qualification details and pay the examination fee. Candidates who have
not applied in Session 1 must apply fresh by completing the NTA JEE Mains 2024
registration and filling the application form.
