JEE Advanced is the second stage of the Joint Entrance
Examination (JEE) after JEE Main. Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE
Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. The exam is conducted once a
year, usually in the month of May, by one of the seven Indian Institutes of
Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis.
The JEE Advanced exam consists of two papers, each of three
hours duration. The question paper consists of multiple-choice questions as
well as numerical answer type questions. The exam tests the candidates'
knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The exam is conducted in
online mode, and the results are usually declared in the month of June.
Admission to IITs and other top engineering colleges in India is based on the JEE Advanced ranks obtained by the candidates. The admission process includes counseling and seat allocation based on the candidates' ranks and the availability of seats in the colleges.
