Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) is a
state-level entrance exam of Bihar state. It is organised by the Bihar Combined Entrance
Competitive Examination Board, Patna. Through this entrance exam, eligible
candidates of Bihar state can take admission into various professional courses in government
and private colleges in Bihar.
It acts as an entrance for students seeking admission to
undergraduate programs like Agriculture, Pharmacy, Paramedicine, and Nursing in
government and private colleges throughout Bihar. Therefore, it is among the
most important state-level exams in Bihar for science students aiming to pursue
professional degrees after the 12th grade.
Previously, the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination was the primary entrance exam for admission to engineering and medical courses in the state. Currently, however, admission to engineering courses in Bihar takes place via JEE Main through UGEAC counselling, while admission to medical courses is conducted through NEET.
Objective of BCECE
The main objective of BCECE is to offer a fair and transparent admission process for eligible candidates. Through this entrance exam score, students can get admission to recognised colleges and universities across Bihar based on their merit and performance.
BCECE Exam Pattern
The exam pattern for the BCECE is uniform across all
subjects. It is conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. There is a separate
paper for each subject, and candidates appear for exams only in the subjects
belonging to their chosen group.
Each subject paper consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and carries a total of 400 marks. Candidates are allotted 90 minutes for each paper. Under the marking scheme, award 4 marks for a correct answer and deduct 1 mark for an incorrect answer. There is no penalty for leaving questions unanswered.
