IIT Delhi MBA: A Look at the Placement Record of India's 4th Best B-school as per NIRF Rankings

IIT Delhi MBA: IIT Delhi is widely known as an institute of engineering and technology. However, the institute has also demonstrated significant strength in management education, evidenced by NIRF ranking IIT Delhi as the fourth best management institute in the country. While the reputation of an institute is important, prospective candidates also consider the placement record when selecting a business school, especially for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) course. To understand the performance of IIT Delhi, let's examine its placement data over the last three years, as submitted by the institute for the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024.

In 2020-21 a total of 124 PGP students of the institute graduated in the minimum stipulated time and all of them got jobs. The average salary of graduates that year was ₹16.20 LPA. In 2021-22 a total of 112 students graduated and the institute again achieved a 100 per cent placement record and the average salary rose to ₹20.06 LPA. In 2022-23 too all the PGP graduates 124 - got jobs and the average salary was ₹24.45 LPA.

Placement Report for 2021-23:

According to the final placement report released by the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, the highest salary offered for the 2021-23 MBA batch was ₹41.13 lakh.

The IT and Analytics sector recruited the most (24.5 per cent) with full-time offers in profiles such as Data Analyst, IT Leadership, Product Specialist, Business Analyst, Marketing Analyst, etc. The recruiters included EXL Services, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini, Paytm, JioSaavn, Media.net, Extria, Merilytics, Mphasis, Diageo, Yum! Brands, Hexaware Technologies, Factspan Analytics, IDFC, etc.

The sales and marketing sector were the second most preferred choice of students, with 22.1 per cent of the batch getting offers for positions such as Product Manager, B2B Sales Consultant, Sales Management Trainee, Marketing Management Trainee, Business Analyst and Business Development, etc. Recruiters included Tata Consumer Products, Texas Instruments, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, JSPL, IBM, GAIL, People Interactive, Indegene, Optum and Publicis Sapient.

Strategy and Consulting recruited 17.2 per cent of the students. The recruiters included Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company, Accenture Strategy and Consulting, Alvarez & Marsal, Acuvon Consulting, Extria, Inmorphis, Publicis Sapient, Deloitte, Infosys Consulting, PwC, RedSeer Consulting, etc. Profiles such as Associate Consultant, Capabilities and Insights Consultant, Cybersecurity Management Consultant, Strategy and Management Consultant, Business Consultant, Pre-Sales Consultant were offered to the students.
