Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is a branch of
engineering that integrates computer science and electrical engineering
principles to develop computer systems, software and applications. It covers
both hardware and software aspects, focusing on programming, algorithms, data
structures, networking, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and more.
Computer science is the study of computers, algorithms, programming, and data processing. It focuses on designing software, developing applications, analyzing data, and understanding computational systems. Major areas include artificial intelligence, cyber security, networking, and database management. Computer Science Engineering (CSE) courses are available at diploma, undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech) and doctoral (PhD) levels.
The Computer Science Engineering admission process for B.Tech involves both class 12 merit and entrance exam marks. The basic B.Tech in CSE eligibility criteria requires students to have cleared class 12 in science background with at least 50 to 60 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
For M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, students must have completed graduation in computer science engineering or related field with at least 50 to 55 percent marks. The major entrance exams for B.Tech computer science and engineering courses include JEE Main, JEE Advanced, state level exams and universities own entrance exams.

Computer Science Engineering Admission Process:
The Computer Science Engineering admission process for
B.Tech is based on both class 12 merit and entrance exam scores. Students can
go through the basic steps for CSE admission 2025 given below:
I) Colleges Research: Identify colleges or universities and
eligibility offering Computer Science Engineering programs that meet individual
academic and career goals. Consider factors such as rankings, accreditation,
faculty expertise, curriculum, labs and placement records.
II) Application: Fill the application form along with the
required documents, such as academic mark sheets and entrance exam scores.
III) Entrance exams: Most universities require applicants to take
entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced (for B.E./B.Tech.), GATE (for
M.Tech.) or university-specific exams to assess their aptitude and knowledge.
IV) Counselling and admissions: Based on students’ applications,
entrance exam scores, and other factors, they may be invited for counselling or
personal interviews. If selected, you will receive an admission letter.
V) Enrolment and Orientation: Complete the enrolment process by
paying the B.Tech CSE course fee and submitting the required documents.
Students must attend an orientation session to get acquainted with the college
and the CSE programme.
