National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for NEET UG and here are some notable amendments that candidates should know about.

1. Updated official website: Updated Official Website: Candidates can now get all the relevant exam information on the official website for NEET information, neet.ntaonline.in.

2. Revised application fees: The application fee structure has been amended. The registration fee for general category has been increased to Rs 1700. Candidates who were not from India will have to pay Rs 9,500. The new cost is Rs 1,600 for applicants from EWS/OBC-NCL categories and Rs 1,000 for applicants from SC/ST/PWD categories.

3. Revision of tie-breaking policy:  The rules regarding tying have been updated. While deciding who will get the highest grade among the candidates, age and NEET UG application number are no longer taken into consideration. Preference is given according to marks obtained in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If necessary, the ratio of correct and incorrect answers is considered between subjects and specific courses.

4. Reduction and addition of topics to the syllabus: The National Medical Commission (NMC) and NTA have updated the NEET syllabus, removing some topics and adding others which are essential for the test.

5. Exam length and variations in the pattern: The NEET exam will now last for 200 minutes (3 hours and 20 minutes), with testing taking place from 2 pm to 5:20 pm. The exam pattern now allows candidates to choose to answer questions in one of two sections for each subject. Candidates can attempt any ten out of fifteen questions in Section B. Section A contains thirty-five questions.

Candidates Attention: Candidates are strongly advised to use only their Aadhaar for the registration process as it will be used at various stages during the NEET UG 2024 process including entry into the examination center and admission into medical college.
