CAT Cut Off is the minimum score that candidates must secure
for admission into Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other top
business schools in India. CAT cut off is determined based on various factors,
including the number of candidates appearing, the difficulty level of the exam
and the number of seats available.
It is important for candidates to aim to score more than the
cutoff to increase their chances of getting admission into their preferred
program or institute. Candidates scoring above the cutoff are considered for
further rounds of selection like WAT, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal
Interview (PI) at IIMs and top B-Schools. The cutoff score is usually declared
with the release of CAT result.
CAT cutoff for admission to IIMs usually ranges between
95-100 percentile for all categories. CAT cut off percentile for old and top
IIMs for general category students is around 98-100 percentile (for general
category). CAT 2023 cutoff is expected to remain in the same range.
IIMs and top MBA colleges like FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, IMT, MICA,
etc. release the qualifying CAT cut off for WAT-PI short listing much before
the result declaration, but they release the final CAT cut off only after the
result declaration and/or PI at the time of shortlisting.
CAT Cut Off: Key Features
For admission into any of the top IIMs and top MBA colleges
in India, the minimum CAT cutoff is 95 to 99 percentile. The CAT cut off for top
IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode
remains high (99+ percentile) every year.
In Tier 2 IIMs and MBA colleges, the CAT cutoff is usually
90 to 95 percentile and above and in Tier 3 IIMs and MBA colleges, the CAT
