The Ministry of Education has announced the National
Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2024. NIRF 2024 was released by
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honorable Education Minister, Government of India, in
New Delhi on 12th August. While releasing the rankings the minister said,
"Without rankings and recognition, higher education institutions cannot
survive in a democracy."
In the management category, IIM Ahmedabad has once again secured the top position, with IIM Bangalore in second place and IIM Kozhikode occupying the third position. There have been many changes in NIRF Ranking 2024. Below are the highlights of the Minister's address during the announcement of NIRF rankings:
+ Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that higher education
institutions cannot progress in a democratic society without ranking and
recognition. Students need to be informed about the performance of their
institutions.

+ In the NIRF Rankings 2024, saw participation from over
6,500 institutions.
+ Of these more than 4000 B-schools including IIMs,
Management institutes, Public and Private University submit their data for
consideration for the rankings.
+ Only 125 top B-schools/Management Institutes out of 4000 were ranked in NIRF Ranking 2024.
Here are the highlights of NIRF Management College Ranking 2024.
1. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode retain their top #1 #2 #3rankings
2. IIM Calcutta slips to Rank #5, while IIT Delhi moves up to
Rank #4
3. IIM Mumbai has moved #6 position in the ranking.
4. IIM Lucknow slips by one rank to #7
5. XLRI Jamshedpur, ranked # 9, is the highest ranked Private
B-school in India
6. SIBM Pune moved up four places to rank #13 this year, from
rank #17 last year.
7. IIM Raipur has slipped by 3 places to Rank #14 from last
year Rank #11
8. IIFT improved its position by 12 places and achieved #15th
rank this year, from 27th rank last year.
9. IIM Ranchi moved up 7 places and was awarded Rank # 17 from
last year Rank #24
10. IIT Kharagpur has slipped by 5 places to Rank #19 from last
year Rank # 14
11. IIM Udaipur has lost 6 places and came down at Rank #22 from
last year Rank # 16
12. IIM Kashipur has lost 4 places and came down at Rank #23
from last year Rank # 19
13. IIM Nagpur has jumped by 12 places and has got Rank #31 from
last year Rank #43
14. IIM Bodhgaya has jumped by 20 places and has got Rank #33

The NIRF Rankings 2024 have revealed significant changes within ranking bands 11 to 20, as several business schools have either moved up or declined in their positions. Main attractions include:
The rankings of many leading business schools have improved
significantly. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has moved up 12
places to rank #15, up from rank #27 last year. Similarly, Symbiosis Institute
of Business Management (SIBM) Pune moved up 4 places to #13 from its previous
rank of #17. Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi has moved up 7 places
and is now ranked #17, an improvement from last year's rank #24. Additionally,
Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon moved up 2 places to rank #11,
up from last year's rank #13.

The NIRF rankings for 2024 show that the bands 21 to 30 include a large number of business schools that have experienced a decline in their rankings rather than an improvement. The highlights are as follows:
The rankings of many major business schools have declined.
IIM Udaipur is now at #22, down six places, from #16 last year. Similarly, IIM
Kashipur has fallen four places to #23, from #19 earlier. IIM Tiruchirappalli
has dropped five places from last year's rank of #22 and is now at #27.
Additionally, IIT Kanpur has lost six places and is currently ranked #29, up
from #23 last year.
