Top Medical Colleges: On August 12, 2024, the Ministry of Education published the
rankings for the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. The
highly anticipated ranking has kept All India Institute of Medical Sciences
(AIIMS), Delhi at the top of the medical category. Its prominent position since
last years.
This year, NIRF has introduced several significant changes
to its ranking criteria, reflecting a shift towards more inclusive and
sustainable educational metrics.
Anil Kumar Nassa,
member secretary, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) said, “In the medical sector, we have increased the
faculty-to-student ratio from 1:15 to 1:10. In contrast, for state government
universities this ratio has been adjusted from 1:15 to 1:20.
We have also incorporated the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals and the indicators outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP), including the promotion of Indian knowledge systems, regional languages and the establishment of multiple entry and exit points."

It is noteworthy that the major five medical colleges have
retained their rankings as compared to last year.
